Enhancing BERTWave Capability

Testing single-ended electrical signals in today’s broadband / high data rate world is rare.  Almost all standards define differential parameters for multi-Gb/s electrical signals. These standards include IEEE, CEI, PCIe and InfiniBand to name few.  Simply put, single-ended electrical measurements for many applications are a thing of the past. Here we will explore a practical & tested solution when a single-channel electrical BERTWave scope is faced with a differential signal. The solution provided will essentially transform such a BERTWave scope into a differential electrical plus optical measurement instrument.
