Achieving 6G's Potential: New Testing Approaches for AI-Driven, Ultra-Low Latency Networks

5G was the first generation of wireless technology to utilize artificial intelligence (AI). The promise (some would say expectation) was that AI would help advance 5G into use cases beyond any previous wireless technology, particularly IoT. While 5G served as an entry into connected cars, smart manufacturing, telemedicine, and beyond, there were limitations.

5G and subsequently 5G Advanced didn’t fully leverage AI. Additionally, a big selling point of 5G – latency – was hindered in certain scenarios due to AI. Data privacy and security and scalability issues are also major considerations.

AI’s benefits are about to become much greater with 6G. As we stand at the advent of 6G, AI and machine learning (ML) will help raise wireless technologies to new heights. By doing so, current use cases will become optimized and new applications will be born.
