The Evolution of 5G in Current Releases of GPP Standards and Its Impact on Testing

5G New Radio (NR) has been evolving quickly ever since the 3GPP standardized the first NR release (Release 15) in mid-2018. In this evolution through Releases 16 and 17 there have been enhancements, but also challenges. Starting in Release 16 the enhancements that are accompanied by challenges are:

  • Multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO)
  • Beamforming enhancements
  • Dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS)
  • Dual connectivity (DC) Carrier aggregation (CA)
  • User equipment (UE) power saving

New testing strategies will need to be developed to secure the promise of these enhancements. This webinar will look at how carriers and vendors are working to make these strategies work for realizing Release 16.
